Scripture and the Church

The succession of conflicts entered a new phase in the 19th century. While earlier arguments regarded single doctrines, 19th- and 20th-century conflicts focused upon the reliability of Scripture.
Despite repressions by both the state and the established church, faithful followers of Christ maintained a separated position, often at the risk or cost of their lives.
The history of God's people is the account of small groups and lonely individuals contending for the faith.
The purpose for the Christian's existence is to demonstrate the praise of God by a life that is clearly distinguishable from the world.
First, because God put them there.
"Are the churches of the present day composed of men who resolutely place the things of Christ before their own affairs, and willingly deny themselves for the honor of Christ and His cause?"
"Where are our 'dead men' - men who care no more for the world's maxims and pleasures than a corpse, but are daily living a resurrection life with Christ?"
This doctrine is at the heart of the reason why Christ had to suffer and die on behalf of sinners, and is our motive in seeking the conversion of lost souls.
The landmark doctrine of regeneration by the Holy Spirit is the bedrock of salvation.
As Archibald Brown continued his sermon on the landmarks of authentic Christianity found in Scripture, he next turned to the "landmark stained with blood."
